Chinese Beef with Broccoli
Create a quick and easy homemade Chinese beef with broccoli meal that will keep your family asking for more!
1 pound boneless beef short rib, or flank steak, cut against the grain in ¼” thick slices
1/3 cup water
5 cups broccoli, florets
1 slice whole ginger, ¼” thick, peeled
1 garlic clove, peeled and crushed
2 tablespoons vegetable oil
1 red bell pepper, cut into 1/4-inch thick slices
1 tablespoon low sodium soy sauce, plus 1 more teaspoon
1 teaspoon dry sherry, (Shaoxing rice wine, sake or brandy if sherry is not available)
2 teaspoons cornstarch
1 teaspoon honey
1/4 teaspoon sesame oil
1/2 cup chicken stock, or beef stock
4 tablespoons oyster sauce
3 tablespoons low sodium soy sauce
1 tablespoon dry sherry, (Shaoxing rice wine, or sake if sherry is not available)
1 tablespoon cornstarch
1. In a medium-sized bowl, combine marinade ingredients.
2. Add sliced beef and coat with marinade. Set aside and marinate for at least 15 minutes at room temperature.
